Our Karis Church vision is for multiplication here in Columbia and across the globe. In our city, we desire to see one church coming together in multiple worship Gatherings and Missional Communities spread all across our city. We take one more step toward this vision beginning Sunday, July 20th. We'll begin meeting Sundays at 10 a.m. at our new space at 1703 W. Worley. We'll also meet Sundays at 6 p.m. at 1020 E. Walnut (The Bridge). These will be two identical worship Gatherings: Karis Westside and Karis Downtown. We'll also launch five more Missional Communities (Karis small groups), as well.
What's it going to take to establish these Gatherings and others, as well as spread MCs across CoMo?
- Bring along neighbors and friends. This is the motivation you need to begin bringing others along. We'll have new “invite cards” available at this Sunday's Gathering. Give them out freely. Invite folks specifically to Launch Day (July 20th). Let's strive to fill up both places that first Sunday. It will take all of us working together to launch these two new Gatherings and move toward seeing many multiply all over our fine city. Will you spread the word?
- Choose a worship Gathering. If you don't call Karis Church home, take your time. However, if you are a member or regular attender, let us know which Gathering you'll be a part of. You're not committing for the rest of your life. Occasionally you can visit the other (Downtown is perfect if you travel and can't get back on time). Let us know, though, so we can schedule you to serve. Will you let us know your choice?
- Serve at a Gathering. There are almost double the needs beginning July 20th. We'll need everyone on board to make it happen. Even consider worshipping at one Gathering and helping at another. We especially need Karis Kids' servants (only at Westside) and musicians (both Gatherings). Will you pitch in and serve?
- Give to Remodel Westside. We are still at 60% of our fundraising goal for the renovation. (Updated: we are actually just under $34K, so we are getting closer!). We don't want to spend more than we've raised. You can give online here. To keep the place from looking rougher than we'd like on that first Sunday, could you give? Would you spread the word to others outside of Karis who might want to help?
- Help with that Remodel. There is still quite a bit of work to do. There is some work that requires skilled labor, but there is a LOT of painting. There will be work nights every day but Sunday from today until July 20th. We'll work all day Saturday, as well. I said last Sunday that this needs to be almost a part-time job for us during this home stretch. Can you come and help?
What an exciting time in the Karis Church story! Don't forget to join us this Sunday, July 13th, what we're calling “Sending Sunday,” as we commission these Gatherings, MCs, and even some church plants to share the gospel across our city and nation.
